About Us

Dr. McGarvey (she/her) loves to talk about oral health! She is focused on combining evidence-based dental decisions with compassion for each person. High quality patient-centered care is her top priority. Dr. McGarvey graduated from the University of Michigan School of Dentistry and moved to California in 2014. She purchased Dr. Skryja’s practice July 2021.

Dr. McGarvey shares her passion for dentistry and life-long learning by helping to train future dentists. She gives a lecture series to current dental students in their last year at UCSF School of Dentistry. She also teaches a hands-on advanced course in dental assisting at the Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry. She is licensed in the state of California, and is a member of the American Dental Association and California Dental Association.

In her free time, you can find Dr. McGarvey out on her bicycle enjoying the beauty of West Sonoma County with her husband Ken.

Sandra Alvarez, Office Manager

Sandra (she/her) has been working in Community Healthcare since 2008.

She has been working with Dr. McGarvey since 2019. Sandra has a focus on making sure the office runs smoothly and efficiently.

Sandra’s skill set has helped her quickly adapt to private practice dentistry. She has a knack for solving complex problems and getting answers. Sandra keeps her mind and body healthy with Zumba and is the matriarch of her family.

Kathy Vedder, Front Office

We are happy to have Kathy back in the office! Kathy has returned to her old position at the front desk, one day a week, to assist Sandra in the running of the office.

Kathy has been in the dental field for 40+ years, first as a CDA/RDA and then as office manager right here at this very office. She enjoys the semi-retired life with her husband and grandchildren. Her free time finds her quilting and gardening and taking her dogs for long walks in Windsor.

Talia Buzel, Registered Dental Hygienist (She/Her)

Talia is a graduate of the SRJC dental hygiene program.

She is dedicated to maintaining the periodontal health of each individual by tailoring each appointment to the needs of the patient.

Her focus is on preventative treatment and oral hygiene instruction.

In her off time, Talia enjoys going on long hikes in Sonoma County, surfing along the coast, and spending time with friends and family.

Adriana Monroy, Back Office Manager, RDA

Adriana (she/her) started her career as a Registered Dental Assistant in 2013 in West Marin County.

She has been working with Dr. McGarvey since 2019. Her focus is on patient comfort.

Adriana is a calming presence for nervous patients. She is an expert in Infection Control and Prevention and has trained and prepared many of our colleagues to pass their dental assisting certification exams.

In her free time, Adriana enjoys long walks with her adorable Coton de Tulear dog, Kevin.

Sofia Martinez, Dental Assistant

Sofia (she/her) is starting her career in dentistry. She is a fast learner and we are happy to have her join the team.

She is a calm presence in the office. In her free time she enjoys painting landscapes in acrylics.
